Capitalizing on CapABILITIES
Capitalizing on CapABILITIES Conference
Besides our EmployABILITY Awards the Durham Region Employment Network hosts conferences for businesses in Durham Region aptly called Capitalizing on CapABILITIES.
The message is clear. Businesses in Durham Region are hiring persons based on their capabilities
The first conference was hosted in November 2012. It was the Region’s first business to business conference on accessibility and profiled the tourism industry in anticipation of the upcoming Toronto 2015 games.
The conference and exhibition informed businesses on what they needed to know about:
- potential new markets for consumer goods and services worth up to $25 billion
- a chance to capitalize on one of the fastest-growing tourism sectors in the world
- local services and resources to help make your business more accessible to millions of new customers, and more.
The Durham Region Employment Network (DREN) hosted the second 2013 Capitalizing on CapABILITIES Conference December 3rd at the Abilities Centre in Whitby Ontario.
This unique event created an open discussion between human resource professionals and employment service providers on facilitating the hiring of persons with disabilities. The 2015 Toronto Pan American and Parapan American Games were around the corner with the promise to attract thousands of visitors to our region. This coupled with the growing consumer market of those aged 65 and older meant that this discussion was well timed.
