Human Resources Practices Study of Non-Profit Organizations in Durham Region, 2003
The second research project was completed in April 2003 and reported on human resources practices in non-profit organizations in Durham Region. This research was the first step towards addressing identified needs and determining next steps to advance Human Resources in this sector. DREN collected and analyzed statistics by mailing a survey document to 258 non-profit organizations, conducting face-to-face and telephone interviews and benchmarking interviews with targeted organizations outside the region.
Based upon the result of the study, DREN has expanded its role to include publishing human resources related information, best practices and current HR thinking within the non-profit sector. We have created a Human Resources page on our website, publishing a 12 article series titled "Building Effective Organizations', hosted an HR workshop in April, published HR information in our quarterly newsletter and dedicated two networking meetings to an HR focus.
