Capitalizing on CapABILITIES 2013

DREN hosted the first business to business conference on accessibility on November 30th, 2012. The Capitalizing on CapABILITIES conference offered a unique opportunity to learn how to tap into a large pool of talent that is often overlooked – the 15.5% of Ontario’s population with a disability of some form. DREN is in the planning stages for our 2013 conference.

When you think about it, people with disabilities are use to being innovators and finding solutions. They do it every day. Government studies show 90% of employees with a disability demonstrated average or better job performance. They also have far fewer sick days and, once hired, they are more likely to stay than employees without a disability.

And the time has never been better for businesses to think about accessibility. The thousands of visitors coming for the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games will need the goods and services Durham businesses offer. Not to mention the Games’ landmark procurement process, which has been designed to promote businesses with ties to diverse, underrepresented groups, including people with disabilities.

So mark December 3, 2013 on your calendar for the second Capitalizing on CapABILITIES conference. That’s where you’ll get all the information you need on how to make your business and workplace more inclusive.

Does your business aready foster an inclusive, accessible environment, where all employees and customers feel valued, respected and supported? Do you want to advertise that you are open for business to everyone? Then contact us for 2013 sponsorship opportunities.
