The Literacy Network of Durham Region (LiNDR) is a non-profit agency that operates the Hotline, an information referral service, and supports literacy programs in Durham Region.

The purpose of LiNDR is to further adult literacy in Durham Region by:

1. developing public awareness that access to literacy is a right;
2. encouraging student participation in decisions and work concerning literacy;
3. providing a forum to share information, resources and professional development activities among literacy groups in the region;
4. advocating for ongoing adequate levels of funding for literacy programming in the region;
5. developing and participating in regional and provincial projects;
6. increasing public awareness of literacy programs and referring students to the most appropriate program;
7. representing the literacy programs of the region both provincially and federally;
8. continually assessing the literacy needs in the region to avoid duplication of services and identify gaps.
