About DREN

The Durham Region Employment Network (DREN) a non-for-profit agency was established in 1993. The organization was developed in response to the need for a single, coordinated effort to unite and share information on the vast array of employment, education/training and community services and programs available in Durham.

 

Advice and Referral Service for Durham Residents

 

DREN advises/refers over 1500 individuals on a weekly basis to its 70 member agencies that offer employment services, education/training services and community support services across Durham.

 

Innovative Workforce Solutions for DREN Members

 

DREN offers its members innovative workforce solutions by hosting Job Developer Meetings, Network Meetings, a Job Posting Service as well as advocating and promoting the member agencies through community outreach. Let Dren help you in your growth towards success and become a member.

Mission Statement

DREN will continue to:

• Play a leading role in Durham Region by providing information and assistance to persons with barriers to employment.
• Build on the power and leverage of partnerships.
• Promote the collaborative work in which its member organizations are involved with employers and clients.
• Be a flexible and proactive organization with the capacity to adjust to new trends and challenges in the employment field.
• Develop its outreach within Durham Region.
• Promote a greater understanding of and responsibility for the placement and gainful employment of persons with barriers.

Board of Directors

The Board is made up of eight directors, two ex-officios from member organizations across the Region.  The staff complement is three full-time and one part-time employees. They meet on a monthly basis to ensure the ongoing activities of DREN are in line with the strategic vision of the organization.
